I assist motor carriers, attorneys, insurance claims specialists, and brokers in their preparation for litigation. I conduct an in-depth case review, examine all case documents, analyze all relevant safety data, and perform a regulatory review of USDOT compliance. I will provide an expert opinion case report, and prepare for deposition and court testimony. I do much of this through researching a motor carrier’s safety profile, including compliance and inspection history with the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Regulations, examine company safety policies and compliance of those policies, scrutinize a motor carriers driver qualification file including hiring practices, training, operations, technology, CDL, drug & alcohol, medical, and hours of service. I also review a motor carriers vehicle maintenance processes, including training, inspection, and repair policies. All these are critical processes that need to be examined by every motor carrier. As for brokers I know what is required by law in selecting a motor carrier and the regulatory responsibilities of a broker. I also can assist motor carriers in getting ready and be fully prepared for the FMCSA Compliance Review; this is so key in establishing a safety fitness determination rating. I bring 40 years of highway safety to the table; the last 15 years serving at the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration and retiring as Executive Director/Chief Safety Officer. I have vast experience in interpreting federal regulations, providing guidance on the regulations, rulemaking, and safety operations to include compliance reviews, roadside inspections and overall compliance with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations.
