Robert W. Becker is a 1980 graduate of North Carolina State University and a 1985 graduate of the Paul M. Hebert Law Center of Louisiana State University. After graduation, he returned home to New Jersey and began his career as a criminal defense attorney. He then worked for one of the large defense firms in New Jersey representing Fortune 500 clients in civil litigation and the New Jersey Correctional Sergeant’s Union in public employment matters.
In 1996, Mr. Becker moved to New Mexico and worked for Attorney General Tom Udall. While there, he negotiated the closure of the Los Lunas Hospital and Training School and the development of the community service system in Jackson v. Fort Stanton Hospital and Training School, et al. Since 1998, Mr. Becker has been in private practice representing governmental entities, officials and employees in civil rights and tort claims act litigation. Mr. Becker is admitted in state and federal courts in Colorado, New Jersey, Texas and New Mexico, as well as the United States Supreme Court and the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals.
