Jessalea Shettle, Esq. is a Junior Partner in the Tampa office and co-chair of the Insurance Coverage
practice group. She focuses her practice on insurance coverage matters. Jesselea handles complex
insurance coverage issues related to interstate commerce including MCS-90 filings and the Carmack
Amendment. Although based out of the Tampa office, Jessalea handles matters statewide and has
experience in all of the Florida Courts.
Jessalea also has experience in premises liability, general liability, medical healthcare and nursing
home matters. Jessalea has handled claims for a national self-insured retail company dealing with
premise liability issues. In addition, she has represented homeowner associations in claims brought
against them by their homeowners, as well as third party claims related to bodily injury issues.
Jessalea further has experience litigating bad faith, wrongful death, automobile and trucking
negligence cases. Her experience with medical malpractice and nursing home claims allows her to
quickly and efficiently handle both pre-suit and litigation matters in those areas.
Prior to joining the team, Jessalea worked for a local law firm where she litigated complex premise
liability matters. She learned through that experience a myriad of tactics employed by the Plaintiff’s
bar in Florida which has proven to be extremely useful in the defense of premise liability claims for
our clients. Jessalea also previously worked at another insurance defense firm handling bad faith, automobile negligence, general liability, homeowner association, medical malpractice, and nursing
home claims. At those firms, Jessalea has assisted in multiple trials resulting in victories for her
clients.
Jessalea earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Florida State University, summa cum laude. She
was awarded her Juris Doctor, cum laude from Florida State University College of Law. While in law
school, Jessalea received the Civil Procedure Book Award, the Depositions Book Award and
Distinguished Pro Bono Service Award. Jessalea also competed on The Florida State University College
of Law’s Mock Trial Team, taking second place in the 2015 Florida Justice Association Mock Trial
Competition.
Jessalea is admitted in Florida (2015). She is admitted to the United States District Court for the
Middle District of Florida (2017). Jessalea is also admitted to the United States District Court for the
Southern District of Florida (2021).
