John W. Minier was born on June 19, 1962 in New Jersey. He is a 1984 graduate of Dartmouth College and a 1988 graduate of Duke University School of Law with honors.

After working briefly as an associate for Gibson, Dunn, and Crutcher in New York City and then Hunton & Williams in Raleigh, North Carolina, he joined Yates, McLamb & Weyher, L.L.P. in 1992 where he has been a partner since 2000.

Mr. Minier devotes his practice primarily to medical malpractice defense and has served as lead counsel in many medical trials. He has defended medical providers through trial in the areas of cardiology, radiology, gastroenterology, general surgery, vascular surgery, emergency medicine, OB/GYN, internal medicine, and family practice. He has defended physicians, hospitals, nursing homes, and individual nurses. He has appeared before the North Carolina Medical Board and other regulatory boards.
