Warrants Executed for Theft Suspect 4.20.04
Search warrants have been executed after seven months of investigating burglaries involving the theft of antiques from across the state of New Hampshire and out-of-state. Five search warrants have been served across the state including Chichester and Lebanon.
Detectives from New London, North Hampton, Pembroke, and NH State Police Troop F continue to lead the investigation. Agencies involved in the investigation or assisting in the search warrant executions are: Lebanon, Chichester, Manchester, Haverhill, Raymond, Pittsfield, Sunapee, Vermont State Police, Woodstock, VT and Hartford, CT Police.
The search warrants have lead police to recover suspected stolen property. The property had been stolen in over a dozen residential and antique shop burglaries.
The Pembroke Police Department holds an Arrest Warrant for:

The charge is Burglary. Anyone who has any information about Lawrence

It is our understanding the North Hampton, NH Police Department is
also holding an Arrest Warrant for Lawrence Stone.
Police linked Stone to a number of the burglaries reported in UnRavel
the Gavel over the past 6 months and posted here on our website as
well as in print in the monthly newspaper. Allegedly antiques stolen from
Pembroke and North Hampton turned up in a pawn shop in Hartford, CT. The
Gavel's readers, shopowners and dealers, are to be commended for contacting
the police with their tips concerning these thefts and the stolen items,
which facilitated both the search warrants and subsequent arrest warrents.
We will continue to post updates as this story unravels.... Stolen items
so far recovered (many of which you will recognize in photos and descriptions
in our Theft Alerts below) include: Civil war secretary, Foot warmer, quilts,
Sampler, two French prints, birds eye maple table, brass candlesticks 19th
century on tripod feet, Spanish Brass candlesticks, lightning rod/weathervane,
four legged stand with loom, yard feed pine box, Dictionary stand.
Police are still searching for other items listed in the
bulletin, to include the Scholar/Monk/Scholar painting and the other two
Beidermeier paintings. Police are asking any dealers or collectors
that may have bought items since September 2003 from Lawrence "Pat" Stone

The following is a list of items stolen in a burglary in New London,
NH the week of Monday, February 23rd, 2004. Anyone with information
on the location of these items or on persons involved with this theft are

CIVIL
WAR ERA SECRETARY-Handmade. Drawers made from painted
dark brown ochre with painted flowers oranges, reds, yellows and golds.
Finish is checkered. Distinguishing side pockets/galleries.
Topped with comb like carvings. Provenance inside. 25-26 wide
X around 44" height.
FOOTWARMER rare 18th century. Approximately 8"X10" wooden, painted green, stair step platform and molding on top- punch work. Includes circular perforations, heart, compass, starburst, the initials date 1784. Front slides straight up and down to expose square heavy lead box for coals, graceful wrought bale secured by forged eyelets.

Anne candleholder with rounded reflector _ plate. Ballot box with
fanshaped light inlays, beveled glass door with key, rounded top with slot
for ballots possibly mahogany.
Pair of paintings.
Biedermeier. Each of woman preparing peeling vegetables in the light
coming through the window. Oil on board paintings. Frame Size
around 14 X 14" with deep wooden frame. The paintings are @ 10 or
11" square. German origin with original frames.
NCAA ring with VULGAMORE in raised lettering on side. (6) Small diamonds and (1) larger one shaped like a football.
Sampler 18"X12" black frame, under glass, hand embroidered prayer on
linen with faded grays and greens, female child’s name on it, and dated
1825.

Covered meat-serving tray warming stand with steam pan hot water bath

DICTIONARY STAND. The stand is a metal (gun metal). The feet
are cast iron. 3’ metal rod going up. Oak tablets fold out
to hold the dictionary. Large Oxford Universal Dictionary shown on
stand, with illustrations. Around 1950’s to 1970’s.

ENGLISH CLOCK engraving
on front says: "Presented to Mrs. (name) in recognition of 50 years of
service. Also may be dated 1926 or thereabouts. Wash set gaudy
Dutch light blue/green with flower. Bowl, pitcher, and slop cup.

Stolen Items From Ezra Eastman Residence, Bradford, Vermont
A recent theft at a Bradford, VT home prompts this theft alert, just as we go to press with our March 10th, 2004 issue. A "ton of collectables" was stolen from this home, which was closed up for the winter, the owners in Florida. Anyone with info. about this theft should contact the VT State Police at 802-222-4680. NH Antiques Theft Alert! 2.04
The Pembroke, NH Police Department is investigating the burglary of a historic residence in town that occurred sometime between 01/31/04 and 02/02/04. In addition, there have been at least two other burglaries in this town in February, 2004, at least one of which has resulted in more stolen antiques, in particular a 3x5 silk oriental rug; a 2x3 silk oriental rug, a 4x6 oriental rug, and a 3x5 Yavaja rug; one long mink coat and one short mink coat, along with an assortment of silver.
Some of the missing property from the historic home is listed below.
2 Civil War era, cap and ball rifles w/ bayonets, the ram roads are

2 large Persian rugs, 1 red, 1 blue
Gold gilded framed mirror, very old, 16" tall, rectangular
Several large antique portraits were stolen. These two are of Elizabeth
and Aaron Whitimore. They are probably the most recognizable and the two
pieces of property the family would most like to recover.

In addition, a Napoleon style hat, a pitcher and bowl, small watercolor
of fancy dressed women; all the glassware, Limoge soup tureen, blue &
white, green rocking horse with stenciling, bed warmer, landscape 3x2 of
horse team pulling ship out of the water; large table clock, 2 beaver hats,
2 wall portraits of men, one with a beard and one without.
A more detailed list will be available within the next few days, unfortunately the Feb. 2004 issue of the Gavel was on the press when we received this theft report, so it will not be in print this month.
